Honey, A Very Special Pup

Last week I got to meet Honey, the labrador retriever puppy at the San Diego Zoo! She is being paired with Ayanna, the cheetah cub, to be her companion as they both become animal ambassadors at Backstage Pass. By introducing them at a young age, they will become lifelong friends. There have been many wonderful dog/cheetah pairings at both the Zoo and Safari Park. The trainers have found that the dog becomes a calming influence on the cheetah and helps their confidence when working in close contact with people, allowing them to be more relaxed in front of crowds. I am so grateful to Maureen and all the keepers and trainers that make it possible to see ambassadors like Honey and Ayanna, to learn more about them, and feel a personal connection with these fascinating animals!
