June with Joan 2012

Nick & I were fortunate to be a part of the 'June with Joan' event again this year, which meant some close encounters with lots of amazing animals! We had the pleasure of sharing the experience with our nephew, Lucas, and his girlfriend, Angela.
For many years now, Joan Embery & her husband Duane Pillsbury, have graciously opened their ranch to members of the canine Obedience Club of San Diego for an evening full of animals, information, and anecdotes. We had a great time! My evening included not only seeing a wide variety of animals, but also: petting an outgoing donkey, stroking the quills of a 3 month old porcupine, getting nuzzled by a friendly llama, and receiving kisses from a baby warthog that ran right up to me! And, we got a few photos, too!
Thanks to Joan & Duane for a wonderful evening, and also to the Obedience Club for coordinating this fun event!
