Pretty scary, huh? He was fierce alright…fiercely smelling the scents his dad, Guapo left behind - a behavior known as the flehmen response. Doing this facilitates the transfer of pheromones and other scents into the vomeronasal organ located above the roof of the mouth. Pretty cute to see it done by a cub, in a snarly sort of way!
